Apple Pie Recipe

This was my grandmother’s apple pie recipe. I have never seen another one quite like it. It will always be my favorite and has won me several first place prizes in local competitions. I hope it becomes one of your favorites as well!

My words from 2008 still hold true today. My little grandmother (and I do mean little – not more than 4′ 11″) would wonder what all the fuss is about – this is her recipe. Thanks to all who have commented on this little guardian angel’s recipe developed years ago in her kitchen as a treat for my dad who took care of her yard and garden after my grandfather died. I am still in awe of the number of you that have tried my Grandma Ople’s recipe for apple pie and love it so much. Now that she has been gone almost 15 years there seems to be less and less of her to hold on to and to pass along to her great granchildren (and great-great grandchildren) who will never know her. Some might say that having originated a delicious apple pie recipe is not much of a legacy, but when I read the reviews and notes of those who have tried her recipe, and the settings and family gatherings at which they have shared her pie, I can truly say that God has worked through my Grandmother to help bring families joy and love. Thank you all for your comments about my Grandmother’s favorite recipe. Rebecca Clyma Proud Grand-daughter of Grandma Ople

This pie is excellent!!!Everyone loved it!!!I even got rave reviews from my in-laws and was asked to make it for a party they are having next weekend. The granny smith apples gave it a little tartness and it wasn’t too sweet. I used Pillsbury pie crusts which made it so easy. I poured the liquid over the apples and then put on the top crust with vents cut in and poured some more liquid over the top crust. This is now our favorite apple pie! This should definately be in the top 10!

This is wonderful! I won’t dare make it unless I am taking it somewhere for a croud. Otherwise, I might be tempted to eat it all myself!

This was my first-ever apple pie. It was really easy (thanks to an apple peeler-corer-slicer), and pouring the sugar mixture over the top gave it a beautiful, sparkly brown lattice top. Yummy!

very good pie recipe. i used pilsbury pie crusts, and it was very fast. next time, i will toss the raw apples w/some white sugar.

I made this recipe first for a church supper and wondered why the Knights (of Columbus) kept one behind when serving everyone else. I made this yesterday for our Thanksgiving dinner and found out why! What an incredible pie! I didn’t have enough Grannys yesterday and substutited Cortand apples, slicing them a little thicker since they are softer and WOW! I don’t think I will ever use another apple pie recipe again! Plus, the presentation is outstanding!! That alone impresses everyone (even if you use a premade pie dough!)!!!Thank you Rebecca!
