  • 1-pound breakfast sausage, hot or mild
  • 1/3 cup all-purpose flour
  • 3 to 4 cups whole milk, more to taste
  • 1/2 teaspoon seasoned salt
  • 2 teaspoons freshly ground black pepper, more to taste
  • 12 cooked biscuits, warmed, for serving


  1. Use your finger, to tear small pieces of sausage also add them in single layers to a large, bottomed skillet.
  2. Brown sausage over medium-high heat until no longer pink.
  3. Reduce heat to medium-low.
  4. Sprinkling half of the flour and stir so that the sausage soaks up all, then add little by little.
  5. Stir and cook for another minute or so, then pour in the milk, stirring constantly.
  6. Cook the sauce, stirring frequently, until it thickens (this may take a good 10-12 minutes).
  7. Sprinkle with seasoned salt and pepper and continue cooking until very thick and succulent.
  8. Just add 1/2 cup milk or more if needed.
  9. Pour the sausage sauce over the warm cookies and serve immediately.
  10. This recipe can be easily doubled to serve 24 people.
