Those too busy to cook days come frequently at my house. I use my crock pot year ’round, but especially during the winter months. I wanted to take advantage of having a meal done without slaving away in the kitchen. I found this recipe for smothered steak strips on The Spruce and thought it sounded delish. After giving it a try, it was proven I was right! My husband just loves steak, any way that he can get it.
I was glad that this meal was tender and juicy, and I didn’t have to try and cook it perfectly over the grill. I tossed everything in the crock pot before work and it was done just on time. Now, when we have anything going on during the day and steak is what’s for dinner, I like to take advantage of this simple recipe.
It gives the taste that I was working hard in the kitchen all day when it really is prepped in just a few minutes. My neighbors even asked for the recipe after trying it one day. It’s a winner in my book!
This isn’t a stew like you would think. It’s actually steak strips just covered in a delicious gravy sauce. It’s great served over noodles or with mashed potatoes.
My kids even wrap it up in a tortilla sometimes for a fajita flavor. I just give them a dollop of sour cream and some cooked onions and they are satisfied. What’s your favorite way of serving smothered steak strips? We would love to hear about it in the comments below!
